Candidates must have a first-class honours degree or merit-level postgraduate degree in a relevant subject.

Project Details
This project will develop the scientific understanding of refill friction stir spot welding of dissimilar metals joining with a view towards future aerospace applications.
This will be a detailed, materials-focused investigation, with specific research tasks to be identified in line with the candidate’s skills and interests. Work will be conducted jointly with the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz, Austria), Strathclyde’s long-standing international strategic partner. Therefore, bilateral research visits and travel to partner sites will be regularly arranged.
