PhD in Marketing 2023

Sola is the Institute's inaugural SYGL doctoral student. His research focuses on business model innovation in internationalising enterprises. Previously, Sola was a digital and innovation management consultant whose expertise lies at the intersection of marketing, data science, and innovation. He is passionate about seamlessly integrating modern digital sentiments into contemporary consultancy practices and is dedicated to empowering creative professionals and entrepreneurs in Africa's vibrant creative community.

PhD in International Business 2024

A CPA from Kenya who has spent several years working in non-profit NGOs on poverty alleviation based in Kenya and Germany, and who is now undertaking a PhD after completing an MBA (in 2024) funded through the Stephen Young Global Leaders Scholarship. Her research integrates insights from finance, international development, and social entrepreneurship. Through this, she aims to strengthen the financial independence of non-profit organizations and support their efforts in tackling critical challenges in developing economies.

Karen is an  entrepreneurial lawyer from Nigeria with a strong focus on social impact and driving social change. Karen completed her MBA in 2024 through the Stephen Young Global Leaders Scholarship. She is now using her extensive experience of working as a lawyer with startups  to analyse the impact of culture and entrepreneurial ecosystems on start up survival in Sub-Saharan African Countries.

PhD in International Business (March 2025)

Alana graduated in 2024 with a first-class BA Marketing  from the University of Strathclyde. Her dissertation title was “An Exploration into the Role of Sustainable Identity Projects on the Consumption of Sustainable Cosmetics”. Alana has joined us through the Strathclyde Centre for Doctoral Training (SCDT) 'Partnerships for Sustainable Innovation' scholarship scheme.

She has held a variety of roles in customer-facing roles which has honed her ability to work both independently and collaboratively within dynamic environments.
